Step 16: Monitor Progress
There is no substitute for a periodic formal review of development with all the people involved in the design, development and implementation of the site. The team should review progress towards the expectations (technical goals, schedule, and cost) and discuss any concerns. To make these meetings constructive, do not attempt to assign blame if problems arise; instead, seek out a solution as a group. And remember to manage the expectations of your stakeholders.
One thing to remember as the process continues is that you must document everything. Sending summary e-mails to relevant stakeholders after conversations and meetings will allow you to prevent he said/she said arguments. These e-mails should include details about participants, decisions and action items. Not only will they include and inform the right people on the project's development, but it will also give you a paper trail to reference if things start heading in an awkward direction.
